LONDON
Walton Street tucked behind Harrods in Knightsbridge is festooned with quaint boutique shops. Always a pleasure to wander in this part of London, it is here you will find Tapisserie, which specializes in making hand- made tapestry’s. The tapestry’s come in all sizes and shapes, you can choose from a fairly wide collection, or you can have any picture or painting you are fond of made into a tapestry. Hilda who was in attendance in the shop at the time of my visit was extremely helpful, and friendly. Lovely unusual gifts for a special friend, or loved one.
The Henry Newberry showroom in Newman Street, just adjacent to the Berners Hotel in London, specializes in furnishing trimmings. The company supplies most of the Theatres in London, and it’s the first call for film companies, in the quest for the furnishing details we the public barely notice that make a film set complete. The shop is beautifully laid out with trimming and furninigs, in every conceivable color, blend, of colors. The atmosphere is extremely inviting and the staff helpful and knowledgeable.
If you are redecorating your home or office and need those ‘trimming’ that make your decoration complete, then like the film companies and theatre companies make Henry Newberry your first call.

What I adore about this establishment is that it renovated and updated the entire store, but still managed to keep that old refined feeling that has been in existance since 1707. Fortnum’s & Masons I believe is one of the last bastions of genteel shopping left in England.
Its hampers, Christmas puddings, and selections of teas are world renown, and the service in this large store is really very good. The staff on the grocery floor still wear tails, and shopping for anything from groceries to clothes is simply a delight. In the luggage department ask for Myros, he and his staff are extremely helpful, nothing is to much trouble, As a result its always the first place I head to when I am trying to get an unusual gift for a client. Throughout the store, you are automatically asked whether you would like your purchase beautifully gift-wrapped in Fortnum’s & Masons exquisitely designed paper.
FOOTWEAR FOR MEN
Fifth Avenue is tucked away, just off Charlotte Street in London’s West End. One of the best shoe repair shops in London, the shop also specializes in fine English footwear for gentlemen and has an extensive collection. Brands such as Church, Cheaney, Grenson, Loake Bros. and Sargent, at prices approximately 10%-20% less than shops in Bond Street and Knightsbridge. If you need a good job done on that heel that needs repairing, then Fifth Avenue is the place. Family owned since 1936..
