Paris based Anthony Palliser is your quintessential Englishman living in Paris. Palliser has developed his own strong style, such as Myriam au Chapeau Noir-1988 pictured at left. His style is to use strong featured models and give them the “Palliser air.” Each painting has this distinctive ’look’ which is difficult to put into expressive words, but is visualized, for example, by the ‘look’ in Myriams eyes. Each of his paintings that I have seen has this strength of character. This is my personal impression of his work, I am not a ‘critic’ of art, but I favor his strong style. That is what I enjoy most about visiting artists and art galleries on my trips, each painting or painter conveys a completely different impression to each individual person. Palliser also does private commissions and is currently working on a painting of Highlander producer Bill Panzer, and his wife.
