VENICE

Danieli

The Danieli is renown as one of the finest hotels in the world.  What many people don’t know is that it affords the best view of Venice across the lagoon from the rooftop Terrazza Danieli Restaurant. The food is average, but the view is magnificent, as is the lobby with its majestic two metre high fireplace, and mosaic floor. Nice spot for lunch strictly to enjoy the view from the terrace, or a drink in the Lobby Bar. Tel 39 041 522 6480

Luna Hotel Baglioni

Luna Hotel Baglioni Venice is a recent good find. The group has a number of hotels in major cities across Italy, all bearing the Baglioni insignia. Luna Hotel Baglioni is the oldest hotel in Venice and offers an excellent service not found in some of the other major hotels in Venice.  The staff are courteous, helpful and friendly.  Pupils of Gianbattista Tiepolo painted the Frescoes in the lounge. One to add to your worldwide hotel list.

Casa Belmonte

Forty miles from Venice, Casa Belmonte, is nestled high on Belmonte Hill above the village of Sarcedo.  The seven-hectare property, which includes vineyards, produces a few bottles each year for its own cellars. Both the red and white wine are  particularly good. Owned and managed by the Costa family, the villa’s six bedrooms and two bedroom penthouse, is an ideal spot from which to explore the Veneto countryside.

Each room is individually furnished by Signora Costa and offers all the amenities of a four star hotel, with added homely comforts.  Keys are left in a   woven basket  in the hallway, and the feeling is one of staying in your home away from home.  Perfect for a group of friends that want to holiday together, but independently. Dinner is available by arrangement, in the dining room overlooking the pool and gardens. Statues of angels that flank the driveway to the villa accent the peace, elegance and tranquility of Casa Belmonte. The Business of Film has arranged a  special 3-day package for groups of 6 or more, with visits to the beautiful surrounding Palladium houses and gardens, and naturally the  outlet shops of the top  Italian designers in the vicinity.
